Medical practices in Ellettsville have improved over the last few decades as a result of two chief factors namely research and formalisation of the whole industry. Health records take the centre stage in the effort to formalise the practise because they provide a reliable basis for the treatment of patients over time. Such records are not only limited to the patient’s history but rather to all the recorded medical information that could show trends or patterns of health issues in different people over long periods.
Electronic health records have therefore become popular in modern societies. Almost all industries are increasingly embracing digitisation in most processes. The medical industry has not been left behind in this. Medical records have also been adapted to digital means of collection and storage that defines the concept of electronic medical records.
The benefits of having electronic health records make the whole shift worthwhile. Medical practitioners in different regions or categories can now easily share patient information. This, therefore, makes treatment processes more efficient and provides essential medical histories for patients without much effort. There is also no denying the convenience of electronic records over physical ones besides the obvious ones such as storage ease and the ease of retrieving the data on demand.
EMR Software Solution for Medical Records Management in Indiana
Electronic health records in Ellettsville IN have evolved the way that medical practitioners operate in terms of collecting and keeping patients’ data. All modern health facilities have jumped onto the bandwagon of adopting this trend. Let’s just quickly evaluate the key advantages that come with the use of electronic health record systems.
- Seeing The Bigger Picture
Health records provide a history of each patient’s medical issues and conditions. This, therefore, allows medical practitioners to familiarise themselves with the patient whether it is on a visit to a dentist or an oncologist. By familiarising themselves with the client’s medical history, health experts can better appreciate the bigger picture of the patient’s health and identify any health patterns.
- Efficient Record Updates and Retrievals
The primary agenda of any health record system is to provide a reliable source of patient details. Electronic records therefore fully satisfy this need in the business. Patent details may even be inputted into the system directly from the medical equipment such as BP meters or thermometers. EHRs also eliminate lots of problems like parallax errors which come with written records hence enhancing the integrity of the records. Lastly, the time taken to retrieve electronic records is negligible and therefore makes treatment processes much more efficient in Ellettsville.
- Better Record Security
Digital means of information storage and collection are better at supplying data security than physical records. The risk of destruction is as good as zero since backups can be created on several devices like hard drives. Data can also be uploaded to offsite organisations or to the web where it is secured even if the hardware is destroyed. Electronic records are also more secure from manipulations and alterations than physical records. Digital information is easily encrypted and electronic devices can be programmed to alert the relevant guardians of the data whenever attempts are made to change such records in any way.
- Less Record-Keeping Costs
The conventional means of keeping records involved tedious filing and a great deal of infrastructures to keep the records and keep room conditions at ideal levels that ensured the integrity of the records on paper. To top it off, the arduous processes of physically managing these records required a lot of manpower which all translated to higher costs of creating and maintaining the records. Electronic records, however, demand very little financial support. A single computer with a large hard drive can perform the job with more ease and efficiency.

Ellettsville was platted in 1837. In 1818, Edward Ellett, Sr, and his wife Eleanor settled in what is now known as Ellettsville with their four minor sons: David, Richard, Johnston and Barton. The first winter, they lived in a three-sided log cabin they built. Also settling that year were their two eldest sons, William and Samuel, with their wives and families. Within a few years daughters Sarah, Phoebe and Nancy settled in the area with their husbands. In 1826, their third eldest son, Edward, Jr., also arrived in the town that was named Ellettsville in 1837. Samuel Ellett built the first courthouse in 1820. It was completed ahead of schedule and at the cost of $400. By 1822, the first school opened and with Samuel Ellett's children attending.
When Indiana celebrated its sesquicentennial in 1987, a historical marker was placed to mark the grave of the town's founder, Edward Ellett, Sr. (c.1762-1833). Two of Edward Ellett's sons, Samuel and Edward Jr., fought in The War of 1812. In turn, two of the founder's grandsons, James W. Ellett and John H. Ellett, volunteered and fought with the 27th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Both men fought at Gettysburg. James Ellett died in service of his county in 1864 in Alabama while his brother, John Ellett, was wounded at Chancellorsville but survived the War of Rebellion. James W. Ellett was interred in 1864 at the Ellett Family Cemetery located just off Red Hill Road to the northeast of town. The family tradition of loyal service to the U.S.A. was later followed by the founder's great great grandson, Dale Ellett, who volunteered and died in World War II in 1945 fighting against Nazi Germany.
